The International Down Syndrome Coalition IDSC Facebook page status the other day read as follows:

"50 years ago, it was standard practice to put babies with Down syndrome straight into an institution. According to the medical standard of the day back then they had no potential...and without some of the life saving medical advances made over the last 50 years, many with heart defects and other medical problems died very young. So what made the change from the way it was then to how it is now? Parents. Parents who refused to believe that their child was less simply because they were born with more. Today we want to say thank you to those parents! You have paved the way for many generations to come!"

Thank you indeed...

I get it was another time...I get medical advances, acceptance & awareness aren't what they are today...I get there wasn't information, resources & the help like I have...And absolutely no judging to those parents who chose the institution route for their babes...

But clapping like Noal & Pip do right now, with my whole body pounding my fist together, meaning it like it's my job...Well done & thank you to those parents who chose differently...

Thank you for seeing the value in my little Pip & paving the way...
