My "oldest" friend {meaning longest friend in my life} Laurs came to visit for a few days...Absolutely lovely to spend some time with her...In all reality we have only got to spend a few hours together every year or so, since I moved away from home...When I visit my family I get to see her, but it's quick little dinners here or there & usually her 3 kids or other friends are involved....
So, this was 2 full days just us {well Pip & busy boy Noal too}- But, she loved snugging with Reid & she gets right on down there playing it up with Noal- She has 2 adorable boys of her own so she knows how to play cars- Even taught me a thing or two...I was playing them as if they were Barbies- My little yellow car would pull up to Noal's, "Heeeey, fancy meeting you here bud...What should we do? Go get gas? Grab some lunch?" to which he would respond, "No mumma, No please" - that's his latest thing saying No to everything but adding please to the end...Anyways, Craig had already told me that wasn't how you played cars, but hearing it from Laurs confirmed I gotta just crash, bang, boom them & I'm good to go...No big convo involved...
So of course, it's been gorgeous here & as soon as Laurs came it rained for 2 days straight- No lie- barely let up at all...Now you can only stay inside with a 5 month old & 22 month old for so long- After hours of cars, shows & chats we had to go out & do something...Which led to this...
Do you notice?
Pip has her ears pierced...This procedure or little outing for most mums takes a mere 15 minutes- For me it took a good full morning...I had been debating in my head really since I found out it was a girl, if I would pierce her little ears as a baby...I think it's cute but a part of me also felt it looked a bit to much...In a flashy-kinda way- I mean now my baby is more done up than I ever am- I can't remember the last time I wore earrings...
Okay so back to the long morning...It all started with us just having a chat about it & then me using washable marker & drawing little earrings on Pip to see how it would look...
Then I made Laurs go with me to all the jewelry stores in the mall to compare earrings- I wanted to find the littlest ones possible- One store wouldn't pierce ears that day because the gal was sick & I took it as a sign to not do it...I tried to find lots of signs & at this point was having my doubts...Spent a good hour or more debating it in a store after using some of their stick on earrings- {which in retrospect I think I should have just bought those instead}
Finally, I just told the gal to just get er done- We had been in there forever, I wreaked 2 packs of stick on earrings, Noal was getting antsy & I could tell the gal thought I was a total nut...She definitely was calling her friends after we left to tell them about a neurotic mumma- It's a bloody ear piercing for heavens' sake...
Pip was great- only cried for 2 secs & stopped as soon as I held her...A part of me wanted to stop because of her little cry after the first ear- Laurs pointed at her heart & said "She had heart surgery, she's got this" & then the thought of her in her patch rocking out with one earring was too much pirate for this mumma...
Noal at this point had played with everything he could in Laurs purse including an empty Tylenol bottle & had knocked down every wallet, necklace & whatnot he could reach from the stroller- He also was giving the poor girl piercing Pip this amazing death stare for a good long while...Bet you we were her favourite customers of the day...
I'm still deciding if I like them & if I'll take them out but for now what's done is done or should I say C'est la vie {hope I'm using that right}...
Will do up a post tomorrow of some pics of Pip's new bling...
P.S- Laurs thanks for the visit & for loving me & my hooligans so damn much...
P.P.S- Tia this is what I used to celebrate Pip's heart surgery success- Thank you- You got her diamond bling!!!

Was searching for my GF's blog and came across your interesting one. Came across your post about going back and forth trying to decide how your dd would look with earrings. Funny, but I had the same dilemma too. I tried stickers, magnetic earrings and everything in between. After much deliberation, I just held a pair of my pearl studs to ears in front of the mirror. She smiled and I had a decision including the style of earring for her first pair!
ReplyDeleteMy dd didn't have much hair and was mistaken for a boy on many occasions. Admittedly, I am in favor of infant ear piercing and absolutely swoon over tiny baby girls with those little diamond studs in their earlobes. Not only do I think it is Adorable with a capital A, it also helps hair challenged babies like mine say “I am a girl!!" Confess I was a bit nervous to pull the trigger and a chicken too, but changed my mind after seeing so
many babies and little girls with cute earrings. Sounds like your friend provided comic relief and moral support too.
What changed my mind to go ahead? I asked our ped and she had her dd's ears pierced at 3 mos. She gave me so great tips for finding the right person and place to do. Putting my mind at ease, I went ahead the next day. She was 4 months old and looked pretty darned cute if I say so myself.
Loved your dd's pictures with earrings and especially the one with her smiling and asleep. How cute is she? She looks like a little angel with those little earrings. Now I just can't imagine my dd now without earrings and think you will too. Although you said, "...I'm still deciding if I like them & if I'll take them out but for now what's done is done." Not to worry, you were a smart mommy for doing them as an infant she will thank you later for the "gift of pierced ears as an infant." Promise she will be getting so many compliments on how pretty they look very soon!
If any moms are on the fence like I was, and want our ped's tips, drop me an e-mail.
