Anyone doubting that this horrific time in our history actually occurred need simply visit this place. After all these years you can still feel it in the air. Just standing there, not moving, without anyone explaining what happened and describing the atrocities, you can feel the pain that lives there still. My youngest son was 10 when we were there, unaware until that day's history lesson of what had happened there, and he could feel it. Often, I find that there are simply not words to do the experience justice - you've done a great job. It terrifies me to think that there are people who still claim that the Holocaust never happened, and to think about the level of antisemitism and hate that still exists in today's world.

Thank you for sharing this. She told horrifying stories of the things that happened there. Her stories changed me forever. I don't know that I would have the strength to visit a concentration camp knowing what my Aunty Ann suffered there. Very sobering. And I will never understand why there was so much cruelty. So unnecessary!

ShariAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-818973399306650502.post-15691925249065984272013-11-14T18:20:57.781-05:002013-11-14T18:20:57.781-05:00Thank you for sharing your experience. It is beyone belief that this happened in our really not to distant history, when put into perspective. We visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, last July. We were there for four hours. I was so emotionally drained at the end. It captures who the people were, families like ours, working people, like us, children, babies, and the horrific deaths they all suffered in the concentration camps. We must never forget!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-818973399306650502.post-9992964470629940452013-11-14T14:04:00.874-05:002013-11-14T14:04:00.874-05:00You write beautifully, even when talking about a s...You write beautifully, even when talking about a subject that is so heart wrenching. It has always been difficult hearing of the atrocities of the WWII and the concentration camps, but when you mentioned the medical room where individuals were experiemented on just because they were who they were hit hard. My daughter also has Down syndrome and I could not imagine anyone ripping her from my arms. And, I hope these camps, while difficult to see, are never lost. You can only imagine the individuals here in America that don't believe this ever occurred. -StephanieAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-818973399306650502.post-26835984950140167792013-11-14T12:36:19.628-05:002013-11-14T12:36:19.628-05:00thank you for remembering. for doing something tha...thank you for remembering. for doing something that was hard. your heart is a good heart. trust it and keep writing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-818973399306650502.post-30835011508100760162013-11-14T11:53:35.013-05:002013-11-14T11:53:35.013-05:00Beautifully done. And now I'm a mother to a beautiful little girl with DS, and the thought of what those monsters would have done to her is far more disturbing than I can bear. I don't know how those camps were allowed to have been created, where were the people to question this and stop that madness? A horrible chapter in the history of the world.j*e*nhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08822560904500954709noreply@blogger.com
